Last week we went to see the 07 ASMF at Pittwater RSL.

It was a great evening, the films were excellent - and the projection quality has come a long way in the last few years.

Looking around the room, the majority of the audience were 30+ male surfers, mostly with shaved short or bald hair. How funny that on the way out the promoters were handing out free samples of Fructis Hair Gel! They would have been better off handing out hair removal treatment goodie bags!

Swellnet reports the origins of the ferocious 30 year storm, battering Sydney tonight, as a low pressure system lingering off of Seal Rocks.

The container ship, Pasha Bulker lays stricken off of the beautiful Nobby’s head.

Realsurf reports largely just whitewater up and down the coast, with a couple of souls braving the winds to ample some of the juice.

Meanwhile, part of the old pacific highway collapses, and a 4×4 is swept off a bridge in the Hunter.

Acidification of the worlds ocean is one of the scariest effects of climate change for the average surfer.

As we pump more and more CO2 into the atmosphere, we place a greater demand on the worlds ‘carbon sinks’ to absorb it.

Although forests and grasslands are carbon sinks, by far the greatest carbon sink on earth are the worlds oceans.

II’m not entirely sure this innuendo ladened commercial really does this surfers reputation any good… I hope he got payed well for it.

Koby Abberton stars in this sexy beer commercial which apparently hasn’t received approval for television. It’s pretty funny, and another example of how YouTube provides a relatively unregulated viral distribution channel for advertising.

What is Guerrilla marketing? This video must have been emailed around the world faster than Steve Irwin. A very on-the-case guerrilla marketing exercise by Quiksilver - seemingly shot on a mobile phone, it was actually filmed in HD video by Simon Wooller of Saatchi and Saatchi.
